Why I Read To Trees

Why I Read To Trees

I spend as much time as I can in nature.

There’s one forest in particular. My relationship with this place has evolved organically.

Initially it was a beautiful space to hike and exercise my body, still my mind. Growing into an experience of wonder and awe as I came to know the personality of this forest.

It’s a quiet place, for reflection and releasing the discord of the world. This forest and me, we are in relationship, we are friends.

The trees give me so much. It’s my happy-healthy place. I wanted to give back.

That's how reading to trees began. The purpose of this act is to acknowledge and connect in a personal way.

What to read? The book doesn’t matter. Books of wisdom, poetry, children’s books, cookbooks. Read out loud or silently. You will be heard.

My favourite book to read to them is Call of the Trees by Dorothy Maclean. This is a book of messages from trees given to Dorothy, who is one of the founders of the Findhorn Community in Scotland.

Birch: “We have known you would come, for the awareness of our essence has been strong in you. The higher you go in appreciation of our nature, the closer you go to the Heart and Mind of Useful Beauty which made us all.”

Pear: “Come nearer and feel a oneness with the tree. Slip into its limbs and feel the unity that my spirit feels…”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Triple Warmer Meridian is about relationships. The inner body’s relationships between organs and systems. Communicating and working together for common good.

Triple Warmer assists harmonious balance with external relationships as well. The dynamics of Triple Warmer seem well expressed in the forest.

Two Tree Essences I particularly love both happen to focus on Triple Warmer.

Copper Beech Essence carries the resonance of connecting. Deepened relationships. Its key attractors are grace, ease, lightness of being, communication, forgiveness.

Poplar Essence helps tap into the gentleness of nature. It supports receiving guidance, innocence, nature connections, healing. It’s a wonderful Essence for awakening one’s potential to transmit healing energies.

Then there's the Mother Tree. A Pacific coastal giant Yellow Cedar in her day. With at least a half a millenium of living, she now stands as a nurse tree. Being home to many new trees, plants, small life. She supports her community, helps them to thrive. Her role in the forest changed from a majestic live tree to service to others.

The Mother Tree Essence offers us endurance and hope as we navigate these times of separateness, broken relationships and vulnerability. Helping us find equilibrium within change.

Being in a forest can be a touchstone to get through the turbulence of the day.

And Pacific Essences® Tree Essences can nourish us as a forest does. They are our mother tree.

Final words…..

Birch: “Each plant species is individual yet part of the whole. Here we are, above unrest, forever one with what should be. We greet you and trust you will often greet us.”
