Tending to Balance

Tending to Balance

As we travel further into the depths of winter, we can see the natural world around us in a phase of retreat and restoration. The once-green leaves are grounded and becoming nutrients for a new year of growth and abundance. Frost coats the earth each morning, and wild creatures seek shelter and rest. This is a season of contraction, of pause and preparation for what lies ahead.

At the same time, for us humans the month of December can seem like a hectic kaleidoscope of activity – celebrations, holiday preparations, visits and outings, tasks to complete and calendars to coordinate. Whether you are joyfully throwing yourself into a flurry of activity or just barely hanging on to the merry-go-round of days, this time of year in our social world can certainly strike a vivid contrast to the ongoing rhythm of nature.

As we devote our energy during this season of giving to bringing love and light to others, it’s important to take the time to check in with ourselves as well. What do we need to maintain our own balance and a sense of peace?

Perhaps this means casting a critical eye on that to-do list and releasing a few overly-ambitious tasks. Perhaps this means protecting our energy and letting one or two family squabbles and minor aggravations simply pass us by. Perhaps this means adding moments to the calendar just for us, to pause and enjoy our favourite elements of the season. Here is an invitation for you to consider how you might build in some self-care buffers for yourself ahead of the rush.

But if you find yourself struggling during the holidays, don’t forget that the power of Nature – its beautiful and reliable energetic cycle – is here to support you. Essences like Balancer or Being Peace might be just the ticket you need to return to harmony. Heart Spirit offers the ability to respond from the heart (rather than the head) during times of turmoil. And of course, Optimal Immunity can help us stay safe and protected in body, mind, and spirit.

Here's wishing you times of rest and renewal, as well as moments of chaos and unexpected joy, as we make our way toward the end of this current year.
