Here we are on the eve of another year. I love this celebration and the potential it offers – letting go of the old, welcoming the new and a promise of potential change and transformation.
For many years our celebration has included a fire ceremony to burn stuff we no longer want or need in our lives. This is followed by a meditation of gratitude and appreciation for Mother Earth and all her bounty. And finally setting intentions for what we wish to welcome in the new year. Usually, I begin with a smudging ceremony of both the workspace and our home. Sometimes I do it just with Sage and sometimes if someone else is with me I follow the Sage with Heart Spirit Spray. The latter with the essential oil of both pink and white Bulgarian Rose and enhanced with Heart Spirit Essence has proven to be an effective space clearing tool even without Sage. In fact, I always use Heart Spirit Spray to energetically clear my treatment room between patients. And I also use it when I am traveling to clear the energy in hotel rooms so that the room quickly becomes my space.
But on New Year’s Eve I make a ceremony out of all of these small acts. It may take less than an hour, but it allows me to focus on what I want to leave behind and what I want to create and also reminds me that I am spirit having a human experience and not just a physical being having the occasional spiritual experience.
Right now, we are entering a year where we will see the number 22 every time we write a cheque or the date on the top of a letter or email. And while numerologically the year 2022 is not actually 22, it’s a 6, the fact is that we will still see 22 daily for the next 365 days. 22 is a power number and is known as the Master Builder. This is why we created a 22-day Abundance Program and not a 15-day or 10-day or even 21-day. The Program is designed to create a new foundation/structure for being able to tap into the field of infinite possibility. So of course it had to be 22 days 😉. 22 is also the number of Self-Mastery where we can access the ability to make choices for ourselves which are in alignment with our priorities at every level of our life.
On another note, 2022 begins nearly 2 full years of living in the global pandemic – surely a once in a lifetime experience for all of us – young and old. These are challenging times. I know people who are not speaking with family members because of conflicting views about vaccines or the very fact that this is happening at all. But here’s the thing – we can never change another person or their point of view. We can however change ourselves… and in fact I submit that this is the only thing we can change in any meaningful way. So, I invite you to make 2022 the year that you make all about you in the highest and best possible meaning of that notion. Learn that in any moment you can shift – a thought, an opinion, and even an emotion. It's all on you to create the world you want to live in: Abraham Hicks calls this pivoting. A Course in Miracles calls it ‘pausing in peace and acting with assurance.’
I am just finishing up another 33 Day Abundance Program. While I know that I co-created it I am thrilled that it helps me to remember who I am and what I am capable of.
For instance, on day 28 I have randomly been given the HoOponopono card again. This is the 4th time in 28 days. Not sure what the
odds are of getting the same card 25% of the time when I shuffle anywhere from 6 to 8 times. So, I choose to believe that the universe is supporting me to not only achieve the goal I set for myself at the outset of the 33-day commitment but is also giving me the tools to do just that. Ho’Oponopono is the Hawaiian Shamanic practice to restore sanity and balance to our minds. The practice is simply 4 phrases –
I love you.
Please forgive me.
And the incredible piece is that you say these words/phrases to yourself = looking in the mirror and cleaning all the debris that is preventing you from being who you can be. I did the 4-day training with Dr. Hew Len about 12 years ago and it became clear to me that the practice was for cleaning and erasing all the harm I was doing to myself by my thoughts, attitudes and opinions of myself and others and the world.
The other card which has already shown up 4 times is ‘What You Pay Attention to Gets Bigger.’ It is the image of a little girl watering flowers. This one is a powerful reminder throughout the day, when my thoughts might wander to something critical or judgemental or simply unhappy-making and over which I have absolutely no control, that I can choose to put my attention on something else in that moment. That is something over which I have complete control.
A British poet, William Henley wrote, “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” in a poem entitled Invictus. In 2009 there was a Hollywood movie of the same name about how Nelson Mandela began the healing of apartheid in South Africa. And the point is that when we align with this power within to choose love over fear, happiness over distress, compassion over anger, we are making a huge contribution to the whole.
Years ago, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation, introduced the notion that if 1% of the population practiced meditation the impact of that coherence would ripple out into all areas of life – demonstrating how powerful one person could in fact be if they were in a state of coherence.
The point is one person can make a difference. We each have the capacity of making a difference every waking moment of our lives and in every situation. But this will only happen when we take care of ourselves first by cultivating a state of equanimity and well-being through the choices we make in every situation.
So let’s make 2022 the year where we diligently choose this power and freedom and see what happens to the quality of our lives. And remember there is an essence from Mother Nature for almost every challenge you might be facing and for every quality you wish to attract.
With love and blessings
And a very Happy, Healthy, Abundant and Love-filled 2022……………….
P.S. We can learn lots from this video of children in Brazil sent to me by a dear friend for Christmas. If we approached every single day of our lives with this same innocence and imagination, unadulterated joy and exuberant passion for celebrating life, we might find a huge shift in our reality.
