Light Up Your Life!

Light Up Your Life!

The Magic of Living 'On Purpose'

Over the past month and more, I suspect most of us have been focused on serving others. Giving gifts to those around us – gifts of our time, gifts of our time and consideration, and of course material gifts as well. This has been a time of year where much of our energy spirals outward, looking to bring comfort and joy to our loved ones and our community.

As we turn the page on a brand-new year, I invite you to take the opportunity to turn that focus on service and that gift-giving energy inward. I want to challenge you to give yourself a gift. What would that look like? Would it be a thing? Or an experience? Or some silence and disconnection from ‘the noise’ to digest whatever experiences you are having?

I encourage you to seek something that will make you ‘light up.’

A little while ago I zoomed into Italy to speak about the Sea Essences at a small conference. I was so pumped and so grateful to be doing this work/play that it took three hours by the ocean with my dog to recalibrate and prepare to do anything else.

In other words, I was ‘lit up.’ I was feeling joyful and ‘on purpose’! I can think of hardly anything more enjoyable for me than sharing these healing energies with fellow beings.

How did I get this life? As we listened to the crashing waves and inhaled the damp foggy air, I asked myself this question. At the same time I was expressing gratitude for the magic of this amazing journey of my life. Thanking the ocean for giving us these powerful healing vibrations and reflecting on the people and events that brought me to this moment in my life. Or to the moments in October when I was in Holland teaching 50 people, already seasoned essence users, about Pacific Essences. Or to the days in September where I was with my beloved Japanese students in Tokyo.

This journey was not something I thought up when I was little – “Oh I really want to make Flower Essences when I grow up!” Haha! Although I must confess that I did see fairies in my grandmother’s garden when I was little, and I was very busy pretending to stick needles in my great grandmother to heal her varicose ulcers on her legs, and I did make healing potions of crushed flower petals and coloured chalk dust for my dolls. But who knew about Flower Essences back then?

It is only in looking back that I can see the twists and turns of the journey, the obstacles circumnavigated, the joy and wonder of having the privilege to spend so much time in Nature. The synchronicities that led me to these precious moments of sharing the energies of Mother Nature here on the west coast of Canada with all these beings in other parts of our world.

If I could identify a starting point for this amazing journey – what would it be?

Leaving the nunnery after 10 months, even though I had truly believed for most of my teens that being a nun was how I was going to be ‘in service” to others and change the world?

Looking across the room at a man and thinking, “I better never let him kiss me.”?  (But of course I did.)

Becoming a Transcendental Meditation teacher and discovering a tool for becoming still and present and being able to attune with inner guidance?

Examining my beliefs in a systematic way about almost everything!!?

Actually it was all of the above – one experience kind of making me ready for the next. But I think that a critical step was the last one where me and the man who kissed me (Michael, of course) sat down and diligently examined our beliefs about everything – marriage, family, work, money, happiness... In other words, the ‘full catastrophe’ of being alive in these physical incarnations.

It was an awesome experience. We would pick a topic and one person would say out loud whatever came into their head about that topic and the other would record it in writing. What was astonishing was the contradictory thoughts and beliefs which emerged around any given topic. We finished the exercise by deleting the beliefs we no longer wanted to hold, and creating a solid present moment statement about the beliefs we wanted to embrace.

This belief work/play became the inspiration for the Abundance Program, Abundance 33, and The Power of One Program. What I know to be true for me is that checking in to see if I am still 'on track' with my values and beliefs has been a game-changer for the quality of my life. I still do these processes at least a couple of times a year.

Sometimes it is the 22 Day Abundance Program, where I determine a specific goal at the outset and then just follow the directions for 22 days. It is amazing what new discoveries I make about what is blocking me from achieving my goal.

Sometimes it is Abundance 33, where I just state an intention and then pick a card every day to see what will help me achieve that goal. This second process is way more random and intuitive, and it is always significant if the same card shows up twice or even more.

And more recently it has been The Power of One, where I just write random reflections on how each of the Essences – Infinite Potential, Essence of Success, and A New World of Hope are helping me to make subtle shifts in my ways of being.

Taking Essences, and then taking the time to handwrite notes about your experience, can be a game-changer in terms of being able to find sufficient silence to note what your inner being is trying to tell you.

I invite you to consider what gift you can give yourself that will help you ‘light up’ and to start the new year in alignment with the person you came here to be.

Wishing you health, happiness, love and abundance, and the capacity to 'light up' and fulfill your mission!!
