How Shall We Live?  In this precious present moment...

Wolf Spirit

March has come and gone in a heartbeat it seems and I have been enchanted by the transformation on Mother Earth.  For the first time in my life I was privileged to see a Wolf a few weeks ago and I can honestly say that I have been transformed by this experience and spent countless hours learning about wolves and what is happening to them in our world.  But that’s another story and will share what is unfolding in that arena at a later date.  For now I will share that Wolf medicine is about family and instinct and living in the pack.  Each member playing their role to sustain the whole community.  Native Americans see Wolf as a medicine for the soul and he appears as a guide when we need to resort “to our inner strength and strategic capacity to face important challenges.”

Nothing could be more true for all of us on the planet right now.  Just as I was seeing the possibility of being in the “new normal” whatever that looks like, I learned yesterday that we are in lockdown again for the next 3 weeks in BC.  Nothing is certain and while I have always known that, the magnitude of all of us being in this together is still daunting.

So while I was going to write about how we shall live after the pandemic and practising compassion I find that I only want to share a passage from one of my favourite books – The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra.  In fact I once told Deepak that if I was stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 books one of them would be the Seven Spiritual Laws.  Hopefully you will find these words as uplifting as I do every time I read them

We are  travelers on a cosmic journey ––––– stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity.
Life is eternal.
But the expressions of life are ephemeral, momentary, transient.
Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, once said,
This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds.
To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at
the movements of a dance.
A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky,
Rushing by like a torrent down a steep mountain.
We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other,
to meet, to love, to share.
This is a precious moment, but it is transient.
It is a little parenthesis in eternity.
If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other.
And then this moment will have been worthwhile.
